Geronimo's current population is 1,200. Geronimo has been known primarily as a bedroom community for nearby Lawton-Ft. Sill and as a farming-community of strong, proud families.  Geronimo is 10 miles south of Lawton’s Central Mall and its City Center.

Geronimo is poised for rapid population growth over the next four years due to Ft. Sill’s job expansion “BRAC,” approved by Congress in 2005. Ft. Sill is slated to expand by about 10,000 new jobs or 20,000 in population over the next four years. It is believed that a disproportional amount of this growth will spill over to Lawton’s suburbs due to affordability, manageable school systems, and less hectic life-style. Outbound growth north of Lawton is stunted by Ft. Sill, eastbound is stunted by Indian-owned property, westbound is stunted by high prices and traffic congestion, so we believe that the next big trend is Geronimo. 

Partially because of the BRAC expansion, local voters approved a measure for a new Geronimo High School opening this Fall. Currently the school services about 360 students, but this year, Geronimo’s level of increased enrollment was 16%, the highest in Comanche County.

Builders love to build in Geronimo because it has a no-hassle, pro-growth community posture to facilitate governmental approvals, and is getting business done.   Families say its location for “rural quiet convenience” is ideal, and land is very affordable, especially compared to other small, surrounding towns such as Elgin, Cache, and Medicine Park.
